KUPU Sutera was originally a group of farmers cultivating silkworms which started in 2016, with members from various regions including Malang, Mojokerto and Pasuruan. As time goes by, in 2022, CV KUPU Sutera was formed which manages local natural silk fiber with a focus on community empowerment activities.
CV KUPU Sutera produces products by combining various natural, ecological, native Indonesian fibers with cultivation that involves community empowerment. The raw materials used for these shoes come from the cultivation. Samia silk is a type of natural fiber and part of Indonesia’s natural resources that need to be preserved. Natural fibers from Samia Silk, either alone or mixed with other natural fibers (for example cotton or kapok fibers), can be developed into textile products and textile products (TPT) that are creative, innovative, environmentally friendly and sustainable. The development of CV KUPU Sutera TPT products is the product of research carried out by a team of researchers who are competent in their fields. of samia silk and brownesian cotton organically and responsibly, without using pesticides and dangerous chemicals.

The process of making thread for Kupu Sutera products is the work of our friends who have limitations. They are part of our social empowerment program which provides them with employment opportunities and social inclusion. These threads are then woven manually using traditional looms (ATBM), thus giving each product uniqueness and distinctiveness.
At the coloring stage, we use natural dyes that come from natural ingredients such as spices, herbs and plants. These natural dyes not only provide beautiful and natural colors to products, but also do not cause hazardous waste or pollute the surrounding environment.
